Screener Survey
Our team kicked off our initial research by sending out a screener survey to gain initial insight on how employers approach the current recruiting process, as well as how individuals with 0-5 years of experience feel about their job application process.
the survey stats showed:
70
96%
57%
44%
total repondents
of recruiters had posted jobs requiring <5 years of experience
of recruiters prioritized quality of experience over quantity
of respondents were recruiters looking to hire
From the respondents of the survey, we found willing volunteers and conducted a total of 9 interviews together as a team. This allowed us to create the following two personas to use as our target audience.

Sketches
We began the design process with low-fidelity sketches to accelerate decision-making through visualization without losing time. The purpose of my initial sketches were to brainstorm and send out ideas to the rest of the team in order to receive feedback and proceed with wireframing in the next step.

Wireframing
Using Figma, I translated my first sketches into low-fidelity wireframes. I prioritized basic page structures and layouts, as well as mapping the most important features needed for this project.

Testing the first iteration:
Next, we pieced together our wireframes to make a functional prototype and sent it out via Maze to conduct some user testing. We had a total of 7 participants with 6/7 completed the assigned tasks. The average time testers spent completing all three given tasks was 46.1 seconds.
users liked:
-
easy to navigate
-
liked being able to see job flow
-
liked applicant profile
improvement
-
inconsistent spacing
-
wanted simpler posting user flow
-
wanted pages for each applicant
with this information and feedback, we went back and made edits to our prototype

The Solution

Dashboard

Table View

Timeline Planning

Applicant Data
Some features of our app include:

One of the focuses for the final prototype was to design an intuitive dashboard that allows users to track application metrics and view their current job listings.
For this, we included a table view of all created job listings with a natural vertical scroll.

This page provides a table view of each applicant for a specific job, as well as their stage within the application process.
Users will be able to add or delete columns in the table as each job may require different steps.

This feature allows recruiters to plan and manage the timeline for each job listing, as well as providing a visual aid for the process.

This page allows users to view all relevant information on specific applicants.
Also allows users to update candidate status as well as save/favorite candidate.
Takeaways
01.
Iterating through the design process as a team. Having peers to bounce ideas off of and receive feedback from helped accelerate the ideation process.
02.
Maintaining brand identity while trying to approach the problem from a creative perspective was definitely a challenge we worked through as a team.
03.
This project really allowed me to gain insight on the job recruitment process from the perspective of a recruiter or hiring manager.
Next Steps...
01.
Iterating once again through prototype
02.
Assessing prototype against accessibility standards
03.
Finally launching the product!
